Condition Report

Very good vintage condition 8.7/10

The Monogram canvas presents beautifully overall, retaining rich color and definition with normal vintage shaping and creasing. Vachetta has developed a warm honey patina with areas of darker patina and wear, particularly along the rolled handle edges and attachment points. Hardware shows expected age-related finish wear.

Important: One exterior Vachetta zipper-end tab has a visible circular hole/missing hardware component, clearly photographed. This is a notable condition point and should be considered when purchasing. Additional surface wear and darkening are present on the Vachetta consistent with a 2001 piece.

Curators Perspective 

This is the kind of Louis Vuitton I continually come back to: an early-2000s Speedy that actually looks vintage. The honeyed Vachetta, beautifully aged Monogram and relaxed structure give it the character newer bags simply don't have.

The condition issue at the zipper tab makes this an opportunity piece rather than a pristine collector example—and I would price it accordingly rather than trying to hide its age. For someone who wants an authentic, beautifully broken-in Speedy 30 to actually carry, this one has tremendous charm.

Collector note: The Speedy is one of those rare designs that has remained relevant for generations. A 2001 example gives you the unmistakable look and feel of older Louis Vuitton without paying a premium simply for pristine condition.
