This is peak John Galliano-era Dior—bold, glamorous and unmistakably early 2000s. The oversized crescent silhouette is covered in leopard-print calf hair and framed by a wide cognac canvas band punctuated with rows of brass grommets. Rather than treating the strap as an afterthought, Dior made it part of the design: the wide adjustable web strap continues the utilitarian, almost belt-like detailing around the body of the bag.

What makes this piece especially compelling is its scale. At 18 inches across, it has substantially more presence than many of the smaller leopard Street Chic bags from the same 2004 collection. The warm cognac leather, gold-tone Dior plaques and dramatic animal print give it the maximalist attitude collectors associate with Galliano's Dior. Condition Report 

Good vintage condition with the leopard calf hair retaining strong color and pattern throughout most of the bag. There are visible areas of hair loss and rubbing on the back, including several more noticeable patches near the upper portion and center of the bag as photographed. Additional light wear is present to the cognac canvas, leather trim and strap consistent with age and use. Gold-tone hardware shows surface wear and light scratching. Interior appears clean overall with normal signs of previous use.

Curators Perspective 

This is exactly the kind of Y2K Dior that feels relevant again. Leopard calf hair, oversized proportions, exposed grommets, logo hardware and a dramatically adjustable strap are all signatures of the unapologetic Galliano aesthetic.

The wear on the back needs to be disclosed clearly, but the front—the side that defines the bag when worn—presents beautifully. More importantly, this isn't simply another vintage Dior shoulder bag. It's a highly recognizable piece of the 2004 Street Chic era, with the scale and leopard fabrication that make Galliano-era Dior increasingly interesting from a collector standpoint.
