This is the Chanel collectors are increasingly looking for—small scale, unmistakably vintage, and from the earliest years of the Karl Lagerfeld era.

Dating to approximately 1986–1988, this Mini East West Flap captures a very different Chanel aesthetic from today's Classic Flap. The elongated silhouette is slim and understated, while the oversized interlocking CC hardware gives it an unmistakable 1980s Chanel presence.

Black quilted lambskin is paired with gold-tone hardware, a leather-interwoven chain and a gorgeous deep burgundy leather interior—one of those vintage details that makes opening the bag almost as good as carrying it.

And at just over eight inches wide with a 20.75" strap drop, this is an early Chanel mini that still feels remarkably relevant today.

Condition Report

This piece presents in good vintage condition with visible age and wear consistent with an approximately 40-year-old lambskin Chanel.

The black lambskin retains beautiful sheen and softness with visible creasing, surface wear and flattening to portions of the quilting. There is rubbing and wear along the edges, corners and perimeter of the bag, with the photographs showing the most notable areas closely.

The large CC hardware remains beautifully prominent with surface scratching and age-related wear visible upon close inspection. The leather-interwoven chain shows wear consistent with use while retaining its classic gold-and-black contrast.

The burgundy leather interior presents very nicely for its age with visible signs of previous use. Overall structure remains attractive and the bag maintains its distinctive elongated silhouette.
