Condition Report

This 1989 Chanel presents beautifully for a bag now over 35 years old, with the character and patina expected of vintage lambskin.

The exterior retains a beautiful warm caramel tone with visible natural creasing, particularly along the lower front, sides and corners. There is light rubbing and wear along the edges and piping, with some areas of surface wear visible upon close inspection. The quilting remains defined and the bag maintains its classic silhouette.

The 24k gold-plated CC turn-lock and chain hardware remain bright and lustrous, providing a beautiful contrast against the caramel leather. The leather woven through the chain shows age-related creasing and wear consistent with use.

The interior is finished in contrasting dark leather and remains well preserved, with expected signs of vintage use. The underside of the flap features the large stitched interlocking CC detail—a beautiful archival Chanel element.

But what makes this one particularly special is the color.

Vintage Chanel in warm caramel and cognac tones is considerably harder to encounter than black, and decades of aging give the lambskin a depth and softness that simply cannot be replicated on a new bag. The slight variations and patina aren't something I would try to hide—they're part of what gives a 1985 Chanel its character.
