Chanel Vintage Brown Lambskin Reissue Chain Maxi Classic Flap

This is an especially compelling vintage Chanel because of its scale and warm chocolate-brown lambskin. The oversized proportions take the familiar codes of the Classic Flap—diamond quilting, CC turnlock, chain strap and Mona Lisa back pocket—and give them a more relaxed, statement-making presence. Brown vintage Chanel has also become increasingly desirable as collectors move beyond traditional black and look for rich archival neutrals.

The construction has the softer character associated with earlier Chanel lambskin, with quilting that has naturally relaxed over time rather than the firmer, more structured finish seen on many modern Classic Flaps. The all-metal chain is another distinctive detail: rather than the familiar leather-interwoven chain, this version uses a substantial gold-tone chain that gives the bag a jewelry-like finish.

Condition report 

Good vintage condition with noticeable age-related wear throughout 7.8/10. The lambskin remains supple with visible diamond quilting, while showing creasing, surface scratches, rubbing and areas of finish and tonal variation. The quilting has softened and flattened in areas, particularly across the flap and back.

There is more concentrated rubbing and finish loss along the flap edges, piping, corners and lower perimeter, with visible  patina , interior small pen marks  missing sticker . The base shows surface wear and light marks. Gold-tone hardware remains bright overall with scratches, rubbing and age-related finish variation. The bag retains its recognizable structure while displaying the softer patina of a well-used vintage Chanel.

Curators Perspective 

The combination of chocolate lambskin, oversized proportions and an all-gold chain makes this far more interesting than a standard black Classic Flap. It has the unmistakable Chanel vocabulary, but with a softer, less formal personality. For a collector who appreciates visible patina and wants a vintage Chanel that does not look like everyone else's, the brown color and substantial chain are the details that make this one stand out.
